Type Locality and Naming

In the Mogoltay Mountains, Kuraminsky range. O.I. Sergun'kova in 1959 (457, pp. 85, 90).

Synonym: Mogoltauskaya Formation, Mogoltau suite, Молгатауская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Dark gray, black, thin-bedded and banded dolomites with layers of marls and limestones. Thickness from 200-240 to 600m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It lies on the Mashrap Fm (the nature of the contact is unclear)

Upper contact

It conformably overlies the Karamazar-Dev Fm. (165,441; 460).

Stromatoporoids - Amphipora ramosa Phill., Actinostroma">Actinostroma cystosum Bog., Stromatoporella">Stromatoporella tuberosa Yavor, tabulates - Thamnopora cervicornis Blain., Alveolitella sp.; brachiopods Emanuella subumbona Hall., Stringocephalus burtini Defr. and others.
